Tiki masks have a long, rich history in Polynesian culture. The expressive carvings and paintings served as inspiration for the GEWA Tiki ukuleles. They have three different motifs here with which they have decorated concert size ukuleles from the GEWA Kalea series. The instruments are made of sapele wood, the fingerboard and bridge are of black walnut. The saddle and bridge inlay are made of bone, which allows for optimal vibration and transmission.
Except for the Tiki top decoration, the ukuleles are left as natural as possible and are only sealed with a thin, open-pored silk matt varnish. This allows the wood to retain an almost natural feel, allowing it to vibrate more freely compared with high-gloss lacquered instruments. All instruments are delivered with a padded gig bag.
