More new Martins for NAMM

Visitors to the imminent NAMM 2017 show will find a host of new Martin up-market acoustic guitars to choose from, including yet another batch pre-announced today, including two new signature models, the Dwight Yoakam DD28 and a D-28 John Prine. Martin will also continue to expand its CEO, Authentic and Custom Shop Series with the debut of the CEO 8.2, CS-CFMartinOutlaw-17 and the 000-30 Authentic 1919.

The Dwight Yoakam DD28 Signature Edition was inspired by a 1972 D-28, the guitar Dwight has played his whole career. Featuring a Sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides, an ebony fingerboard is the backdrop for the inlaid mother-of-pearl and recon stone playing cards. The other truly unique feature of this instrument is the bull’s horn shaped pickguard. It will carry an SSP of £5,200.

Martin’s D-28 John Prine is limited to only 70 instruments replicating his 1960s’ D-28. The D-28 John Prine features an Engelmann spruce top and Madagascar rosewood back and sides. The Madagascar rosewood headplate is inlaid with pearl angel wings, a nod to most commonly covered song “Angel from Montgomery”. With a warm toned finish, the guitar also features antique white binding, bone nut and saddle, an ebony bridge, and an ebony fingerboard inlaid with abalone pearl snowflakes and a unique case made of a cream tweed exterior and bright red interior. The SSP will also be £5,200.

Constructed with an Adirondack spruce top with ‘Vintage Tone System’ and genuine mahogany back and sides, antique white binding and heelcap, Brazilian rosewood headplate, bone nut and saddle and an ebony fingerboard and bridge, just 17 will be made.

If even that isn’t extoic enough, Matin will also be showing the 000-30 Authentic 1919.
