US pedal maestro Brian Wampler has three new models on offer, the Faux Tape Echo v2, The Pinnacle Deluxe v2 and the Mini Ego Compressor.
Wampler says that the new version of his well received Faux Tape Echo maintains the original analogue dry path and provides up to 600ms of clean, tape-style delay with realistic modulation and note decay. There is more time on tap, with the Faux Tape Echo capable of up to about 800ms total of delay time, but ‘with light grit on the delay signal’ past 600ms because of pushing the delay chip to its absolute maximum.
The new V2 has done away with the on/off switch for the modulation, which have been substituted with two streamlined controls for Rate and Depth. Various other refinements include the provision of four subdivisions to choose from:1/4 note, 1/8th, dotted 1/8th and triplet, based on the chosen tap tempo.
Wampler’s original Pinnacle, the second newcomer, was designed, the company says, to deliver the much sought-after ‘Brown Sound’ but the Deluxe V2, while retaining that sound also functions as a versatile distortion pedal for players looking for a wider range of tones.
Alongside several other refinements, there is a new SAG switch on the side, which helps control the amount of compression and saggy crunch to tighten up the gain with high-output pickups and it now features an independent extra Boost switch.
Finally, in response to customer feedback, Wampler has shrunk the original Ego Compressor to the increasingly popular mini format, without losing functionality or tone, it is claimed. Info: www.wamplepedals.com
