Epiphone has announced a new ‘limited edition’ Joe Bonamassa ‘Treasure’ Firebird-I, the fourth Joe Bonamassa signature model in Epiphone’s long partnership with the bluesman. It features the ProBucker FB720 pickup, claimed to be a ‘one-of-a-kind faithful recreation of the original early 60s Firebird pickup’, as well as Kluson’s re-issue of the original Firebird/Banjo style tuners.
The company says the new Epiphone is closely modelled on Bonamassa’s rare 1963 Gibson Firebird and that the guitarist worked closely with Epiphone’s luthiers in Nashville, Tennessee to recreate the sound and feel of his original.
‘The guitar is called Treasure as it’s based on the ‘63 Firebird that was graciously gifted to me four years ago,’ said Bonamassa. ‘The Epi’s play and sound better than the originals and they’re more in tune! I’m very impressed with the whole package.’
The ‘Treasure’ Firebird-I is available in two colour finishes, Polymist Gold and Tobacco Sunburst, and each guitar comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Bonamassa.
