Ramrods, the brand of percussion rods handmade in the UK, begins a new chapter as it takes control of its own distribution in the UK. Following the end of its distribution agreement with Yamaha Music Europe, Ramrods will now be available to UK dealers directly from Ramrods’ owners, Percussion Technology Ltd.
Managing Director at Ramrods, Richard Horton, said, “Ramrods is extremely grateful to Yamaha Music Europe for its guidance and support over the last few years. To have had such a major player in the musical instrument industry demonstrate their belief in us, at what was a very early stage of our existence, was a fantastic boost to the confidence of the brand. Now, as our paths diverge and both parties explore new horizons, we look to the future as we wish our friends at Yamaha Music Europe every success.”
Tony Lythgoe (Marketing Director at Ramrods) goes on, “Both Yamaha and Ramrods agreed that Ramrods is better served by the smaller, more agile scale that Richard and I can bring. Richard and I are both energised at the prospect of offering Ramrods directly to our UK retailer community. This development enables Ramrods to offer a closer, more hands-on relationship with UK dealers. Our new streamlined approach means we are better positioned to be more responsive to the market’s needs, offering greater efficiencies and a faster response to customer enquiries.”
Ramrods is a brand of specialist percussion rods handmade in the UK by drummers for drummers. Crafted on a farm in rural Warwickshire, Ramrods percussion rods are designed not only for drummers who wish to play at lower volumes, but also to offer a range of tonal options to generate a wide variety of voices from your existing drums and cymbals. Chosen by professional drummers and percussionists for their exceptional build quality and reliability, Ramrods are the first choice percussion rods for players including Lea Mullen (George Michael, Happy Mondays, D:Ream), Alex Thistlethwaite (Massive Wagons), Gareth Roberts & Markus Gruett (Wicked, The Musical London).
Ramrods will be exhibiting at The UK Drum Show in Liverpool 24-25 October 2026.
