Fender has announced the matching Limited Edition Buck Owens Telecaster and Buck Owens Kingman, honouring the late, great country music icon with two guitars in his signature red, white, and blue colour scheme.
As a pioneer of the raw, electrified “Bakersfield Sound” and a co-host of the hit TV variety show Hee Haw in the late 1960s and ‘70s, Owens forever transformed country music. Now, players can channel his spirit with two very different guitars:
The Limited Edition Buck Owens Telecaster® is a flashy, hot-rodded Tele® bearing Buck’s signature sparkle and shine. Based on Buck’s own custom Tele played throughout his innovative career and into the Hee Haw years, everything about this guitar — from the vintage snap and sizzle of the custom single-coils to the gleam of the red, silver and blue sparkle finish —screams Bakersfield.
The Buck Owens Kingman™ is engineered with an innovative Performance X™ bracing pattern, whilst the dreadnought body is lightly crafted with a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides to effortlessly produce a substantial, bass-filled voice with exceptional detail, projection and volume. Meanwhile, an ergonomic modern “C” profile was chosen for the neck along with a 25.5″ scale length for optimal sustain, and a tilt-back 6-in-line headstock with a painted headcap featuring logos inspired by original examples of Buck Owens signature guitars.
Limited Edition Buck Owens Telecaster ($1,999.99 USD, £1,899.00 GBP, €2,199.00 EUR, $3,499.00 AUD, ¥297,000 JPY) The Buck Owens Telecaster features an alder body finished in signature red, silver and blue sparkle with double white binding for the iconic look of Buck’s custom Tele. Equipped with custom Buck Owens Alnico 3 and Alnico 2 single-coil Tele pickups, this guitar delivers the bright, cutting tone that defined Buck’s Bakersfield country sound.
