The Homespun Songbook Now Available

Hal Leonard is proud to announce the publication of The Homespun Songbook by renowned folk musician and educator/founder of Homespun Tapes, Happy Traum. Traum hand-selected 100 songs that he feels are perfect for singing and playing at gatherings, whether they’re around a campfire or at a jamboree.

Traum provides an introduction to each song with important background information on the songs’ origins, personal advice on how to play them, or stories on who wrote them or made them famous, many of whom are/were personal friends of his! The songs are presented with chord letters over the lyrics, and guitar chord boxes for those who need help finding the fingerings.

The book is separated into the categories of Traditional Folk and Bluegrass; Singing the Blues; Gospel Songs and Spirituals; and Singer/Songwriters. Songs include: Betty and Dupree • Blowin’ in the Wind • Freight Train • House of the Rising Sun • I’ll Fly Away • The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down • Sixteen Tons • The Weight • Will the Circle Be Unbroken • and many more.

Happy and Jane Traum founded Homespun Tapes in 1967 and have become trusted and endearing leaders in carrying on the folk tradition through quality instructional materials. From copying reel-to-reel tapes at their kitchen table to worldwide distribution of printed and digital editions today, Homespun has proudly documented the folk tradition and has helped it grow with millions of musicians who have benefited from their work. Homepun Music Instruction is distributed by Hal Leonard.

The Homespun Songbook retails for $24.99 and is available at halleonard.com or music retailers everywhere.
