NAMM 2018: Godin

Visitors to Godin’s stand at NAMM are set to find a host of new products across three of the Canadian company’s guitar brands: Art & Lutherie, Seagull and Godin itself.

Godin Stadium 59

Leading the electric Godin models will be the Stadium ’59 series. The Stadium ’59 provides tonal versatility thanks to the Seymour Duncan ’59 humbucker in the neck position and Godin Custom Cajun single-coil pickup at the bridge and comes in in a variety of finishes including a new glossy Desert Green colour, and paired with a vintage ashtray bridge, the Stadium ’59 is one of Godin’s standout electrics of 2018. The Stadium ’59 series will also be available in Vintage Burst and Coral Blue finishes. Other features are the Indian rosewood or maple fingerboards, hard rock maple neck with unique dark shadow finish and Canadian Laurentian basswood body. Each Godin features the Godin High Definition Revoicer.

The Stadium 59 ships in a high quality Godin Gigbag and will have a UK SSP of £1,125.

Though better known for its guitars, Godin is also offering new basses this year including and the Dorchester 4 String Solid Body Bass series. The Dorchester 4 is described as ‘a thumping retro throwback made for 2018. The short-scale semi-hollow bass has a ton of tonal character and nice harmonic overtones thanks to the way its chambered body resonates. The bass comes loaded with powerful Godin Passive Kingpin Dogear Alnico Bass pickups controlled by 1 x volume, 1 x tone and a 4-way selector switch’.

The new series will be featured in two high-gloss finishes: Black and Cherry Burst. Other features are a Canadian Laurentian basswood body, hard rock maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. This bass ships in a high quality Godin Gig Bag and will have a UK price of £799 in Black and £899 in Vintage Burst.

Another new bass is the Shifter Classic 4 Vintage Burst HG, a lightweight fitted with Godin Passive PJ Pickups controlled by 1 x Volume, 1 x Tone and a 4-way selector switch.

The new bass comes in a killer high-gloss Vintage Burst finish and features a Canadian Laurentian basswood body, hard rock maple neck, rosewood or maple fingerboard and double-function bridge. It will sell for a suggested £875.

Godin Doyle Dykes Multiac Signature Edition

Arguably Godin’s biggest draw may be a Doyle Dykes Signature Edition. Built to Doyle’s specifications, the Doyle Dykes Multiac Steel comes with custom voiced LR Baggs Electronics, with a blendable sound with lyric microphone, an LB6 Saddle transducer, and a unique, adjustable tape saturation simulation.

This guitar comes with a solid spruce top, on a dual chambered mahogany body, mahogany neck, with a Richlite fingerboard and white binding  as well as white rose inlays at the 12th fret. The guitar will ship with a TRIC case. and will sell for £1,649 in the UK.

Art & Lutherie recently announced the addition of two new models to its Legacy and Roadhouse series of acoustics, the Roadhouse Denim Blue Q-Discrete and the Legacy Denim Blue Q-Discrete. Godin says: ‘Building on the Roadhouse’s reputation of being the ultimate travel companion, the Roadhouse Denim Blue offers entirely new playability and style for players looking for a compact, stylish and resonant parlor acoustic. Meanwhile the Legacy Denim Blue is a massively powerful acoustic packaged in a comfortable, easy-to-play concert hall shape. Both models come with a Q-Discrete preamp with tone and volume controls placed conveniently on the body’. Denim Blue will sell for £499 retail.

Godin’s Seagull brand will benefit from an updated look for 2018. The Entourage line will feature a variety of body shapes in the new “Autumn Burst” finish. Other updated features include a Godin EPM Q1T pre-amp and the addition of two parlour-sized models in Natural Almond and Natural finishes. Prices will be under £550.
