Musikmesse 2017 is making a bid to broaden its fan appeal by teaming-up with the ‘Woodstock of Brass Music’ (‘Woodstock der Blasmusik’) open-air festival and will be holding special events focusing on this the target group, including the finale of the ‘Copa Kapella’ band competition. The winning band can look forward to making an appearance on the main stage of the ‘Woodstock of Brass Music’. The competition concerts will be held on the new ‘Wood & Brass Stage’ at Musikmesse on 8 April 2017, where there will also be a programme organised by the two partners covering all genres of brass and woodwind music on all days of the fair.
The competition will give five selected bands the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities on the Wood & Brass Stage on the Saturday of the fair, and to win a place in the line-up of Europe’s leading open air festival for brass and woodwind music. The competition is open to groups of up to ten musicians, at least three of whom must play a wind instrument. There are no limits on musical genres. To enter, bands should submit a video, in which they can be seen and heard playing, via download link to pr@woodstockderblasmusik.at
A jury of experts will make an initial selection, from which the five bands to appear in Frankfurt will be chosen by online voting.
