West End show drummer Tim Goodyer – currently the drummer for Disney’s sell-out show ‘Aladdin’ at the Prince Edward Theatre London – is the latest pro player to join the UK artist roster of Sake drums.
Goodyer has an impressive CV. He previously worked for South Park creators’ hit show ‘The Book Of Mormon’ and before that a two-year run of the Dreamworks Animation production of ‘Shrek the Musical’ at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. His other shows have included ‘Dirty Dancing’, ‘Saturday Night Fever’, ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’, ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and he was the original drummer for the London production of the award-winning ‘Avenue Q’.
He has also played in ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Grease’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Beautiful Game’, ‘Kiss Me Kate’, ‘Fame’, ‘Footloose’, ‘Anything Goes’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and played drums for dance rehearsals for the stars of the Rob Marshall movie ‘Nine’ with Nicole Kidman.
Goodyer has chosen a Sakae Trilogy proprietary Maple/Poplar/Maple 3-ply shell kit in a Mint Oyster Pearl finish. 4-ply North American Maple reinforcement rings at the top and bottom of the shell help to dry the sustain and keep the ultra-thin shell. ‘I love the Trilogy series because they are versatile enough to cover all the styles I play,’ he says. ‘They produce a beautiful warm and, most importantly musical, tone which sound engineers seem to really appreciate, in both recording and live situations. I’m really honoured to be a part of the Sakae family.’
