D’Addario strings and accessories at NAMM

There are no new string ranges from D’Addario at this year’s NAMM – but there are extensions to the company’s current premium lines, including a Nickel Bronze Mandolin set (RRP 13.90), an EXP Acoustic set for Taylor’s GS Mini Bass (EXPPBB190GS, gauge .37 – .90, RRP £52.00) and an NYXL Bass Heavy set, (NYXL55110, gauge 55-110, RRP 40.50).

Immediately available in the UK, is the new D’Addario Eclipse tuner – a low cost tuner but with high-price performance, the manufacturer says. The Eclipse chromatic clip-on tuner features a full-colour display, auto power-off, and pitch calibration in a discreet, compact design. The vertical orientation of the display features intuitive visualization of pitch reference, while the dual swivel display allows the perfect viewing angle and can be mounted in front or behind the headstock on right- and left-handed instruments. Available in 6 colours, the RRP is just £12.90.

Other accessories being debuted by the New York company will include the new CinchFit Acoustic Jack Lock (RRP £13.50) and the Circuit Breaker cable with latching cut-off switch. (RRP from £30.50 – £45.50). The CinchFit addresses the problems associated with endpin jacks when removing guitar straps. The Acoustic Cinch Fit loops through the end of any instrument strap, and its magnetic security clasp makes sure it stays in place. The cinch clamping action also allows easy application and removal, utilising the weight of the instrument to remain locked onto the endpin so the guitar is always held securely. And with no strap modification required, now you can easily attach any strap to acoustic endpin jacks.

The new addition to its circuit breaker line of instrument cables, D’Addario’s Latching Cut-Off Switch, features a gold-plated plug for superior signal flow and corrosion resistance, and has the same solderless plug connection as its predecessor. Its newest feature is the actuated “kill switch” that allows for noise-free instrument changes – press the switch once to mute the signal to the amplifier completely, and press again to reactivate the signal flow. It will be available in a range of lengths and with both straight and right angle plugs.
